How to visit Bondi Beach ?

To get to Bondi Beach, you can take a bus or a train from Sydney's city center. The most convenient option is to catch a direct bus (333, 380, or 381) from the city, which will take you to the beach in approximately 30-45 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a train to Bondi Junction and then hop on a bus (333, 380, or 381) or walk for about 20 minutes to reach the beach.

It's essential to book a few things in advance when planning your trip to Bondi Beach. If you're interested in taking a surf lesson or joining a guided coastal walk, make reservations ahead of time, as these activities can fill up quickly. Additionally, if you're traveling during the peak season (December to February), it's a good idea to book your accommodations early to ensure availability.

The costs you can expect to incur during your trip to Bondi Beach will primarily include transportation, accommodations, dining, and activities. Public transportation is relatively affordable, with a one-way bus or train ticket costing around AUD 2-5. Dining at a mid-range restaurant will set you back around AUD 20-40 per meal. Surf lessons typically cost around AUD 60-100, while other activities such as coastal walks and beach yoga may range from AUD 10-30.

Some of the best things to do at Bondi Beach include swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and exploring the stunning Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk. Additionally, you can visit the famous Bondi Icebergs Club for a swim in the ocean pool, enjoy beachside yoga classes, or explore the vibrant Bondi Markets for unique souvenirs.

For dining options, consider trying out Bondi Trattoria for delicious Italian cuisine with a view, Speedo's Café for healthy brunch options, and Macelleria Bondi for mouthwatering steaks and burgers.

When it comes to accommodations, you have a variety of options to choose from, depending on your budget and preferences. For a mid-range option, consider booking a room at Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach, which offers spacious apartments and a great location. QT Bondi is a stylish boutique hotel perfect for a more luxurious stay, while Bondi Backpackers provides budget-friendly accommodations for travelers on a tighter budget.

Off the beaten path:

For an unusual travel experience at Bondi Beach, consider visiting the lesser-known Ben Buckler Point, a scenic spot located at the northern end of the beach. This area offers a more tranquil atmosphere, away from the crowds, and features beautiful rock pools and a picturesque coastal lookout. Additionally, you can explore the vibrant street art scene around Bondi Beach by taking a self-guided tour of the numerous murals and graffiti artworks that adorn the area's walls and buildings. This unique aspect of Bondi's culture is not to be missed and provides a refreshing contrast to the beach's natural beauty.

Learn More about Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach is a beach located at Bondi in the city of Sydney, in the Waverley Council administrative area, 7 km east of the city centre.

The beach is most famous for surfing, but not only, as it was one of the first beaches in the world to see the birth of a lifesaving club for the safety of swimmers and surfers

What to do at Bondi Beach?

You can surf on one of the most beautiful beaches in Sydney, you are a beginner, it's not a problem, you will find people who will teach you to surf. Watch the dolphins too, as they also like to catch the waves.
If surfing or swimming doesn't appeal to you, then visit the Aboriginal artworks at Ben Buckler Reserve, north of the beach along the rocks, where you can see fascinating engravings of fish, sharks and boomerangs.
Bondi Beach offers a coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee beach stretching for 3.5 mile (5.63 km) south of Bondi Beach, the route is great, following the cliffs via Tamarama, Bronte and Clovelly, offering great views and pop-offs along the beachside path.

If the beach isn't for you, why not try the famous Bondi Iceberg pool, another way to discover Bondi, swim and enjoy the scenery and cool off in the sapphire coloured water before trying a seaside dinner in a restaurant.

Where to eat ?

I suggest 6 restaurants, cafés, and bars.
  • The Iceberg Dining Room, for a romantic atmosphere and a view of the Icebergs Pool, can be reserved for you.
  • If you are a more stylish restaurant leg, I suggest you the Bar Pho for Vietnamese food.
  • To relax on the terrace, I suggest Chapter One, which is a café and also a wine bar.
  • For more traditional restaurants, there is Salty's Bondi which is a bar and restaurant offering dishes such as burgers and chips with a view of the beach.
  • In the same style you also have the Bondi which is a bar for those who want to go clubbing too.
  • You also have the Bondi Hardware, which is a bar where you can sip a cocktail and eat too.

For sweet treats and moments of pleasure, I suggest two ice cream addresses.
  • The Bondi Icebergs CLUB in front of the beach.
  • Gelato Messina Bondi which is a little further back, but not far from the beach.

Bondi Beach is a great spot of Bathing Resorts in Sydney, Australia, there are many things to do and see, and it's constantly changing and perfect for a holiday, so don't hesitate to return.

Frequently Asked Questions by Travelers planning a trip to Bondi Beach

Public transportation to get to Bondi Beach ?

Bondi Beach may be one of the most visited places in Sydney, but it is still difficult to get to.

  • By car, we are not far from the city center of course, but we still need to be able to park.

  • By train, we can only go to Bondi Junction, then we have to take a bus to get to the beach. Because Bondi Junction, the shopping area of Bondi, is 3 km from the beach. This is an option that will take you more than 30 minutes in total. At Central Station, you have to take a train to the Eastern Suburbs and the Illawarra line. From Bondi Junction, catch the 333 or 380 bus. They can also be taken directly downtown at Circular Quay.

  • A cab will cost you about $30 from the city and $40 from the airport.

After that, it's just a matter of sitting on the sand, grabbing a surfboard, and living the Australian way of life.

Bondi Beach is particularly popular with tourists, but it is not the best area to sleep because the establishments are mostly expensive.

It is better to stay in another area and enjoy Bondi during the day and at night.

When it comes to cafes and restaurants, there's plenty to choose from around Bondi Beach, starting with the renowned Gelato Messina ice cream parlor, whose lines make other shops envious.

For a full meal, Trio Café or Bondi Hardware are among the best places to eat in the area. Most of the restaurants and cafes in Bondi Beach are quite affordable, as are the bars.
As for bars, go to the Bucket List on the beach, The Anchor, or the Beach Road Hotel, which hosts many concerts throughout the year.

On weekends in summer, Bondi's bars and beach are packed with people.
